We’ve discussed before here on the VA Helper Blog and Podcast that promoting affiliate products is a great way to make a bit of more passive income. You can set up ways to let people know that you’re an affiliate. Whenever they check out one of these ways, you stand to make some money!
Sites like Amazon, ClickBank and Commission Junction have tons of products available for affiliate sales. They also make it painless by providing easy-to-use text and graphics links to those products.
So, how do you let everyone know? How do you get the word out there that you are promoting something good? The first way, and one of the most effective, is to write a product review and post it to your blog. People love to read reviews of products before they buy.
Another way is to make mention of it on your social media platforms. You can post about it on places like Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus and LinkedIn. Just remember when sharing these things on social media that you don’t want to come off too spammy. People don’t want to think you’re out there just to sell, sell, sell. Include the product benefits in your post or how it will relate to them versus saying, “I think you should buy XX product.”
You can add a blurb about the affiliate product in your newsletters or other emails that you send to your list. This is the perfect place to mention products that you are promoting. This group of people has already opted in to hear what you have to say. You are establishing that know, like and trust factor with them so they are more apt to listen to what kinds of products you use and endorse.
In a similar vein, you can add a page to your website and call it “Tools” or “Resources.” On this page, you can add links or graphics linked to the products with a brief description—or better yet a link to the product review that you did.
Don’t forget about products that you are creating yourself. For example, if you’ve written an ebook it is perfectly acceptable to sprinkle in your affiliate products throughout. As always, when it comes to affiliate sales, you want to be honest and tell people that it’s your affiliate link. You don’t want to be sneaky about it. If the person reading what you’ve put out there trusts you, they will want to buy what you are endorsing.
Do you have any other ideas or ways to promote your affiliates? We’d love to hear them!
