It’s hard to believe that 2012 is almost over already, it feels like we’ve only just begun digging into all the things that we want to get done. While planning the new year for a service based virtual business isn’t quite the same as planning for a sales based business there are still a few things you can do to help make sure that the new year is the best year yet, with more income and more free time.
Speaking of free time, have you seen Erica’s video about women and time?
That’s one of the first things you can do to make sure the new year is productive and profitable; make sure you are using your time wisely and delegate things that can be delegated. Erica has some great tips in the video for working on a time log and deciding if your time is being used wisely or not. She’s a pro at helping you figure out what needs items need delegated and what items need your personal attention and she teaches a course on how to delegate like you mean it.
If you’re a list maker like I am, now is the time to start making that list of goals for the new year. Don’t make resolutions… they just get tossed aside by the end of January and we fall back into our old habits. Set reasonable goals in achievable bite-sized chunks; weekly goals, monthly goals, 3 month goals, 6 months goals, annual goals. You can set your goals by income, by number of clients, by number of leads,… whatever measure makes the most sense for you and your business.
Make sure your goals help you grow and consider finding an accountability partner that you check in with once a week or so just to make sure you’re both doing what you plan to do. It helps to have someone to check in with and you can bounce ideas off of each other and act as a second set of eyes for projects and content.
