Plugins and widgets can really add a lot of interactivity to your website; things like forms, surveys, and extra goodies for your readers. I recently discovered a new-to-me plugin called Speak Pipe that allows you to put a voice mail message box right on the side of your website or blog. And it’s free! Readers just click the tab and they can record a message for you, ask a question, or just say hello.
Of course I had to play with it right away, so I installed it on a few sites (including right here at VA Helper)… You’ve probably noticed the big purple tab on the right hand side of your screen. That’s Speak Pipe. Go ahead, click on it. You know you want to. 🙂
You just login at SpeakPipe.com and you can listen to your messages right there on the web. No phone needed. You can also download the MP3 files, which is awesome. Those audio snippets can be used as part of your podcast or saved and listened to later on for reference while working on client projects.
So let’s think about some ideas for using this cool new widget on your website…
Prospects and readers can leave a message to ask a question. You can answer those in the form of articles and short reports.
Customers can call in to leave a testimonial and say thank you. Social proof for your business. Add testimonials to your services website as audios and transcripts.
Clients can call in and leave their to-do list. Great for on the go clients so you don’t have to track them down to get their list for the week, saves you time.
Installation and Set Up is EASY!
You just go to SpeakPipe.com and click on Get Started. You’ll set up an account with your email address and password. You can customize the color and wording of your tab and they’ll give you a copy and paste code to install the widget on your WordPress, Joomla, Tumblr, or Blogger powered website. You can even add the voice mail box to your Facebook fan page if you want to.
It takes just a few seconds and it’s as easy as copying some text and pasting it into a new blank widget box (on WordPress anyway, I haven’t tried the other platforms but they look equally easy to set up.)
Enjoy playing with your new plugin,
P.S. Want to leave a message for me or any of the team members here at VA Helper?
