Use your photo on your website to demonstrate credibility and give a sense of “real” to your website. Think of it as your virtual handshake when you meet a prospective client for the first time. Marketing researchers have long known that showing a face builds trust and credibility.
You can use it as part of your website banner in an artistic way, use it on your “About” page, in a profile on your sidebar, or even in your advertising campaigns. Did you know that on Facebook ads that use pictures of someone’s face generate more clicks than just about any other kind of ad block?
Use a professional photographer whenever you can. A great photographer will be able to get the lighting, the posture, the angle and everything else right to give you an image that really shines.
If you don’t have professional headshots on your list of things to do this month, that’s okay too. Use a favorite photo for now and you can have the pro shots done later and update your website then.
